Rice
Rice presents itself in a variety of forms, and in its raw state, it is not suitable for consumption. To achieve the desired rice product, it undergoes processing and milling. With over 40,000 cultivated varieties worldwide, here are the most common types:
A) Basmati Rice: Recognized for its long grains and distinctive fragrance, Basmati rice is predominantly cultivated in the Himalayan foothills of India and Pakistan. Varieties include 1121, Sona Masoori Rice, and Pusa Basmati Rice.
B) Non-Basmati Rice: This category encompasses diverse shapes and sizes, varying from long and slender to short and thick, and even bead-like or round. Non-basmati rice lacks the specific characteristics of Basmati rice. Examples of non-basmati rice include Parboiled Rice, Broken Rice, Sella Rice, Swarna Rice, and Sona Masoori Rice.
